When Egypt Keeps Following You

This month I found myself reflecting on how healing often begins long before our circumstances change. I kept thinking about how the children of Israel walked out of Egypt, but somehow Egypt still followed them. Their bodies were free, but their hearts and minds were still tied to the place God delivered them from. As I looked at my own life stories, I realized there were seasons when God moved me out of a situation, but the residue of the old mindset was still trying to cling to me. December has a way of exposing what we thought we were done with. Old patterns. Old wounds. Old memories. And yet, God uses this season to show us what He is ready to break off of us.

Faith Turning Point

The turning point came when I realized God is not waiting for me to leave a place before He begins to remove the place from inside of me. He starts His restoring work internally. That revelation changed everything. Healing was not only about what God delivered me from, but also about what He was delivering out of me. I stopped asking God for a new season and started asking Him for a new mind.

What I Had to Unlearn

I had to unlearn the idea that freedom is only external. I had to let go of the belief that once something is behind me, it can no longer affect me. Egypt is not a location. Egypt is a mindset. Egypt is a pattern. Egypt is a belief system that contradicts God’s truth. And until I unlearned that, I did not know that God wanted to heal not just my surroundings but my thinking.

What Restoration Taught Me

Restoration taught me that healing is both removal and renewal. God removes what no longer serves you and renews what He always intended for you. He is not only breaking chains. He is rewriting the story. He is restoring the identity that Egypt tried to erase. December taught me that restoration is a daily decision to trust God with the parts of me I thought were already healed.

Restoration Reminders

• Healing is not a moment. It is a process.

• Wholeness begins in the heart long before it shows up in your life

• Letting go is not weakness. It is obedience.

• Egypt cannot follow you when your mind is anchored in God.

• You are not going backwards. You are being restored forward.

Mirror Moments

Where has Egypt tried to follow you this year?

What old mindset has God been gently asking you to release?

Heart Check

Have you believed that healing only shows up when your situation changes?

Are you open to the idea that God wants to change you before He changes the season?

Let That Go

Release the internal Egypt.

Release the thought that you must have perfect circumstances to walk in freedom.

Release the story that tries to keep you tied to who you used to be.

Journal Prompt

Write down three ways God has begun healing you internally this year, even if your external circumstances have not changed yet.

Scripture to Meditate On (AMP)

Acts 7:39 (AMP)“But our fathers were unwilling to be obedient to him; instead, they rejected him and turned back in their hearts to Egypt.”

Romans 12:2 (AMP)“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed and progressively changed by the renewing of your mind…”
